Setting Powerful Intentions for 2020

Jan 1, 2020 | Health and Wellbeing, Lifestyle

First things first,

HAPPY FREAKING NEW YEAR!! WOOO!!!

If you’re like me, you appreciate a good tag-line, and boy… does 2020 have the best tag-line yet!

“I’VE GOT 20-20 VISION!”

This cute, irresistible, we will probably be so sick of hearing this in a couple months, tag-line is not only good fun, but it’s extremely translatable as we begin to discuss intention setting.

There seems to be a general consensus that the words “resolutions” and “goals” are out, and INTENTIONS are in!

I have been practicing intention setting for several years now and love the efficacy of this practice in focusing my energy towards authentic growth and transformation. The biggest difference between resolutions, goals and intentions is simple- you are not attached to the outcome or the end result.

YOU ARE NOT ATTACHED TO THE OUTCOME OR THE END RESULT

“intentions are the starting point of every dream—the seed of creation.” -Deepak Chopra

Setting intentions sparks clarity and understanding. Through intention setting, you begin to energetically declare that which you wish to manifest most in your life!

HOW TO SET QUALITY INTENTIONS FOR 2020

Setting meaningful intentions begins with the “What” and the “Why”

To begin, find some space where you can sit uninterrupted and free of distraction. Close your eyes and take a few minutes to ask yourself “What do I wish to manifest in my life?”, “What is going to help maximize my happiness?” “What do I want to attract?” and “What do I want leave behind?”

Then, review your list through the lens of “why”. “Why do I want to manifest these things?” “Why do I need more of this or less of this in my life?” “Why is this going to improve my overall happiness?” and ” Why are these things important to me?”

Clear, grounded, pure, and decisive intentions create a silent contract with yourself; a commitment to your wellbeing, happiness, and growth each day within the calendar year. You will walk away feeling a sense of pride, knowing that you have 20-20 vision on what will serve you the most in the upcoming year.

To strengthen this practice, I recommend writing down your intentions and putting them somewhere where you will see them on a daily basis. Display them on your fridge, put them in a frame next to your bed, in your bathroom, or hang them on the wall, tac them to a bulletin board, fold up and place in your wallet, etc.

My 2020 Intentions

This year, I have six well-set intentions:

  1. Reconnect To My Spirituality– I am a deeply spiritual person; however, this past year I could feel a nagging disconnect between my mind, body, and spirit. Therefore, in 2020 I am committed to further exploring my spirituality and re-establishing mindful practices.
  2. Reduce Waste– This is a continuing intention from 2019. Over the past couple of years, I have worked to further reduce my environmental footprint by using reusable water bottles, mugs, grocery/ produce bags, storage containers, and have sought out more sustainable products for my household and personal use. This year I intend to further commit to this vision.
  3. Save More, Spend Less– Another continued intention. Currently, my boyfriend and I are saving up for a trip to Europe. In an effort to support this dream, I strive to reduce un-neccessary and frivolous spending.
  4. Continue To Do Things That Scare Me– I have found substantial growth through doing things that scared me. Each time I stepped out of my comfort zone, I learned something new about myself, my desires, my values, and my life.
  5. Continue To Build My Brand– Creating my own creative platform was definitely something that scared me in 2019 and something that changed my life! I look forward to connecting to more people, sharing more information, and further exploring the in’s and out’s of growing a business.
  6. Seek Out New Inspirations– There’s nothing I love more than the internal drive you feel after stumbling upon a new inspiration. I look forwarding to seeking out new opportunities and new sources of inspiration in 2020!

I hope this year brings you health, love, growth, support, comfort, adventure, and connection! I have a feeling this year is going to be the best one yet. So CHEERS to 2020 and CHEERS to YOU!
